Khalid has 19+ years of experience in the information technology and infrastructure, cyber security and ICT systems planning. He leads QCERT - Qatar’s national cyber security program, working closely with government agencies, financial institutions, energy sector, businesses and citizens to address cyber risks, data protection and to ensure children’s safety online. He has been instrumental in the development of a national cyber security strategy and collaborated with security teams worldwide to develop integrated response systems and a robust information network. Khalid played an imperative role in establishing GCC CERT Committee to address cyber threats in the region and was appointed as its first chairman. Previously, Khalid was IT Operations, Support and Security Executive Manager for the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. He also served as IT Manager for Qatar Armed Forces, retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel (Air/Eng.) Khalid is a Master of Science in Software Engineering from the University of Michigan, USA and a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Ohio, USA, certified also in CISSP, CISM, and ITIL.
